Nicole, the centre manager at Gateshead

Meet Nicole, our childcare centre manager

I see each child as a unique and capable individual who deserves to be treated with genuine respect and care. Everyone comes with their own set of strengths, experiences, and potential—and it’s my role as Centre Manager to nurture these qualities in a safe, supportive environment.

I believe children are naturally curious and competent learners. My goal is to create a space that encourages exploration, development, and self-confidence.

By modelling kindness and respect in my everyday interactions, I aim to build a culture where children feel valued and where they learn to treat themselves and others with the same level of respect.

Each child brings their own background, culture, and identity into our centre, and I see these as something to be honoured and celebrated. Education should make children feel proud of who they are and that their voices matter.

Above all, physical, emotional and psychological safety are at the heart of everything we do. I work to ensure children feel secure, empowered, and free to take chances, ask questions, and learn through experience. It’s this sense of safety that helps children grow into resilient, creative, and confident learners.

At the core of my approach is a commitment to building a learning environment where dignity, respect, and safety are embedded in every interaction. These values provide a strong foundation for lifelong learning and help shape children into thoughtful, compassionate individuals.

Educators at our childcare centre near Charlestown embrace play-based learning.

This is a key element of the Early Years Learning Framework and is all about encouraging children to explore, create, and discover through meaningful play. It allows children to actively engage with people, materials, and their surroundings in imaginative and purposeful ways.

During play, children might build, sort, role-play, experiment, investigate, express ideas, or work together with others, helping them make sense of the world around them.

This approach nurtures every aspect of a child’s development, from physical and social skills to emotional well-being, creativity, and problem-solving.

It also lays strong foundations for future literacy and numeracy by making learning enjoyable and relevant to their interests.

Deciding to enrol your child in early learning before preschool is a personal decision, but it often comes with many benefits for their development.

Attending a high-quality childcare centre like Juniors Journey gives children the chance to build early social skills, form friendships, and develop a sense of independence.

It also helps them become familiar with daily routines and group learning environments—making the move to preschool and eventually primary school feel more natural and less overwhelming.

Nurturing, welcoming and empowering every child

We provide high-quality early education that supports the learning and growth of every child. Our play-based principles and nutrition-focused meals encourage exploration, expression and celebration of individual learning journeys.
